Temporary schedule changes

Move trips to another driver or reorder a run for a date range, then automatically revert to the regular schedule.

When a driver goes on vacation or a run needs a different stop order for a week, you don't have to edit the standing schedule and remember to change it back. Temporary scheduling applies a change for a date range and automatically reverts when the range ends.

What you can change temporarily

  • Reassign — move one or more trips to a different driver for a date range.
  • Reorder run — use a different stop order for a driver's run for a date range.

In both cases the everyday standing schedule is untouched — when the window ends, everything returns to normal on its own.

Temporarily reassigning trips

  1. Open the Dispatch board.
  2. Either:
    • Select trips in the Unassigned pool, open the Assign menu, and choose Assign temporarily…, or
    • Click the Temporary button on a driver's lane header to work with that driver's existing trips.
  3. In the Temporary scheduling slideout, check the trips to include (Select all / Clear all help with bigger runs).
  4. Pick the new driver under Move to driver.
  5. Set the Date range (it defaults to a week starting today).
  6. Review the live summary — for example, "These 4 trips will move to Maria for Jul 20 → Jul 26, then automatically return to the regular driver."
  7. Click Apply.

Temporarily reordering a run

  1. On the driver's lane header, click Temporary, then switch to the Reorder run tab.
  2. Drag stops into the order you want. A pickup must always come before its drop-off — the slideout enforces this.
  3. Set the Date range and click Apply.

The run uses your custom order for those dates, then returns to the standing everyday order.

Seeing and reverting active changes

The slideout lists Active temporary changes, each tagged Reassigned or Reordered with its date range and driver. Click Revert now on any of them to end the override early — the trips return to the regular driver or order immediately.

On the board, stops covered by a temporary change show a Temp badge with the date range, so dispatchers always know why a trip is sitting on an unusual driver.

Tip: Temporary scheduling is also the right tool for a driver's day off. From the Employees schedule you can mark a day off and reassign that day's trips to a substitute — see Adding drivers and employees.
