Recurring trips

Recurring trips are standing orders — the same ride repeating weekly on the days you choose, with recurrence living right on the trip. Use them for individual standing rides. When several riders travel together to one destination on the same van, use a transport route instead — it manages the whole run (driver, order, roster) as one unit. To move a rider from a recurring trip onto a route, use Add to route… on their trip — it ends the recurring trip cleanly and the route takes over from its next service day.

Create a recurring trip

1. Click Create Trip in the sidebar.
2. Fill in the member, funding, and leg details as usual (see Creating a trip).
3. In the Schedule section, switch from One-time to Recurring (weekly).
4. Under Repeats on, click the weekdays the trip runs (Mon–Sun).
5. Set Starts and, optionally, Ends (optional). Leave the end date blank for an open-ended series.
6. Click Save trip.

The slideout's subtitle confirms the mode: "Repeats weekly on the days you select."

Drivers on a recurring trip

Each leg has a Driver (optional) field that applies to every occurrence. If a different driver covers certain weekdays, expand + Different driver on specific days and pick a driver per day — days without an override use the default driver.

Make an existing trip recurring

From the Trip List you can convert trips in bulk:

1. Select the trips (or a single trip) and click Set recurrence in the table toolbar.
2. In the Make trips recurring dialog, pick the Repeat on days and an End date (optional).
3. Optionally check Also assign one driver and choose a driver for the whole series.
4. Click Make recurring.

Each selected trip repeats weekly starting from its current date. Each leg of a round trip is set separately. If the selected trip came from a broker, ZeitRide creates a recurring internal trip that automatically absorbs that member's matching future broker trips — so you don't end up with duplicates.

For a single broker-fed trip, use Edit on its row: the broker's address and times are shown read-only ("From broker · read-only"), and the Recurrence section lets you set the weekly pattern with Save recurrence.

Editing a series vs. one day

• Change the standing pattern — open the trip with View / edit details and edit days, times, or addresses; this affects the series going forward.
• Change a date range only — use temporary scheduling to move trips to another driver or reorder a run for specific dates, then automatically revert. See Temporary schedule changes.
• Change one occurrence's driver — when you assign a recurring trip on the Dispatch board, ZeitRide asks whether the change applies to Just this day, Every occurrence of that weekday, or Every day (whole series). See The Dispatch board.

Pickup order carries forward

Once a trip is recurring, the pickup order you set on the schedule board becomes its standing order: every future week is generated in that same sequence automatically. You set it once by dragging the driver's lane into the order you want — no need to re-drag every week.

A few rules worth knowing:

• **Set the order after the trip is recurring.** An order you arranged while the trip was still a regular (one-time) trip applies to that day only — it does not carry into the series. After converting trips to recurring, do one pass on the schedule board: drag each driver's lane into the intended pickup order once, and every future week inherits it.
• A drag on a specific date stays on that date. When a run is made entirely of recurring trips, saving the order applies it to every occurrence (the standing order). If you only want to adjust a single day — say, one rider needs to be first on a particular Tuesday — that day keeps its custom order and the standing order stays untouched for every other date.
• Mixed runs are protected. If a driver's lane includes a regular trip alongside recurring trips that day, reordering applies to that day only, so a one-day addition can never rewrite your standing order.
• One standing order per trip. The sequence applies on every weekday the trip runs. Day-specific differences are handled as per-date adjustments, which the schedule generator respects and never overwrites.

Ending or removing a series

• Set an Ends date to let the series stop on its own.
• Archive the trip (in the Edit Trip slideout) to remove all future stops while keeping past history — the right choice for a member who stopped riding.
• Delete permanently erases the trip and all its records; use it only for mistakes.

Note: Recurring trips show an indigo ↻ badge in the Trip List with the repeat days (for example "↻ Mon, Wed").
