Driver app overview

How drivers sign in, work their trips from pickup to dropoff, capture signatures, and handle will-calls.

Last updated July 19, 2026

The ZeitRide driver app is where your drivers run their day: today's trips, one-tap pickups and dropoffs, signatures, and automatic GPS — all synced live to your Dispatch board.

Signing in

Drivers sign in with three things on the Driver Login screen:

  • Company ID — your company's 6-character code (shown in the web portal's top bar and on Settings → Company)
  • Username (or their email, if one is on file)
  • Password

Credentials are issued by the office on the employee's Access tab — drivers don't self-register. See Adding drivers and employees. If an admin deactivates a driver's access, the app signs them out with an "account deactivated" message.

The Trips screen

The Trips tab lists the driver's day, one card per trip showing both the pickup and dropoff. Trips are grouped into sections:

  • Next — a banner at the top telling the driver their single next action ("All caught up." when done)
  • On board — members currently in the vehicle
  • Upcoming — what's ahead
  • Will Call — return trips waiting on dispatch, marked with an orange WILL CALL badge (see Will-call trips)
  • Completed — collapsible, with a running "X of N completed" summary

A Tomorrow toggle shows the next day's schedule as a read-only preview.

Working a trip

  1. Tap Pick up at the curb. The member moves to On board and the actual pickup time and GPS position are recorded at that moment.
  2. Tap Drop off at the destination — same recording, and the trip moves to Completed.
  3. Made a mistake? Undo reverts a completed stop.
  4. If the member cancels or doesn't show, tap Cancel trip and choose Member cancelled or Member no-show.

Multi-loaded trips show a MULTI-LOAD badge with the rider count so drivers know who shares the ride.

The app enforces physical order: a drop-off can't be completed before its pickup, and a return-leg pickup can't be completed before the outbound drop-off. If a tap is rejected with a message like "Pick up Jane Smith before marking the drop-off complete," complete the earlier stop first.

Note: If timekeeping is enabled, drivers must start their shift before marking stops — the app prompts "Start Your Shift First." See Driver timekeeping.

Signatures

If your company enables signature capture (Settings → Driver app), the app prompts for the member's signature at pickup or at drop-off — one signature per trip leg. With "reuse signature on file" enabled, members who already have a signature on file aren't re-prompted; fresh captures update the file automatically.

GPS while driving

During a shift the app shares the vehicle's location with dispatch at the interval your company configures — that's what powers the Live Map and the GPS evidence on broker claims. Pings stop at clock-out. Drivers see a clear notice that location is shared with dispatch during their shift, and the app asks for location permission with an explanation on first run.
