Dash Cam and telematics
Live in-cab and road camera views, safety events, footage, and vehicle data from ZeitRide's integrated dash cams.
Last updated July 19, 2026
ZeitRide's Dash Cam is an integrated part of the platform: cameras are provisioned and managed by ZeitRide, and the video, safety events, and vehicle telematics land right inside the vehicle record — no separate vendor portal or login.
Turning telematics on
A company admin enables the integration under Settings → Telematics:
- Toggle Enable dash cam telematics. Live vehicle positions then stream from camera-equipped vehicles to the Live Map automatically.
- Choose the Live map location source — Dash Cam (recommended) or Driver App. The dash cam is always on and doesn't require the driver app to be running.
- Devices themselves are assigned by ZeitRide — the settings page notes that no credentials are required. If you don't have cameras yet, contact ZeitRide support to get started.
Linking a camera to a vehicle
On the vehicle's edit form, the Dash Cam section has a Dash cam device dropdown listing your company's assigned devices. Select one and the link takes effect immediately.
The Telematics tab
Open a vehicle and go to its Telematics tab. A status strip shows the device: Online/Offline, last seen time, serial, and any fault-code count. Four sections:
Live
The Camera card shows an auto-refreshing still preview with a Road / Cabin view toggle. Click Watch live for an on-demand live stream, and Back to preview when done. Company admins can also use Send driver message to put a short message on the driver's in-cab display. A Most recent incident teaser links into the events list.
Incidents
Safety events lists events detected by the on-board camera over the last 7 days — harsh braking, collisions, and similar — each with a severity (critical, warning, or info) and linked media.
Footage
Browse recorded stills and clips from the camera by time.
Data
Live vehicle snapshot tiles — Speed, Odometer, Engine hours, Fuel level, Active faults — plus expandable Fault codes, Sensor readings, and GPS history tables.
Dash cams and the Live Map
With telematics enabled and the location source set to Dash Cam, every camera-equipped vehicle reports its position continuously — including when the driver app is closed. See The Live Map.
Note: Camera hardware and provisioning are handled by ZeitRide as part of the service, priced per vehicle per month. Contact support to add cameras to your fleet or move a device between vehicles.
